Melissa Saunders practices law with the firm of Wagner Oehler, Ltd. Melissa’s practice areas include estate and trust administration and estate planning.
Mrs. Saunders earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Carleton College in 2001. In 2004, she earned her Juris Doctor from Mitchell Hamline School of Law and went on to clerk in Winona County District Court. In 2005, Melissa began her legal career in Rochester focusing on the areas of estate planning, estate and trust administration, and taxation. In 2021, Melissa left the practice of law to become the Director of Planned Giving at Carleton where she assisted donors with complex charitable gifts.
Melissa served as a board member and treasurer of the Olmsted County Bar Association from 2007-2015. From 2017-2021, she served as a board member, treasurer, vice president, and president of the Rochester Estate Planning Council. She has been a frequent speaker on estate planning, charitable giving, and estate and trust administration at local churches, government, and educational events. Melissa has been a speaker and author for Minnesota CLE and the National Business Institute.
Melissa is currently a Trustee of the Rochester Catholic Schools. She has also served on the boards of Families First of Minnesota, Honors Choirs of SE Minnesota, and Samaritan Bethany, Inc.
In her free time, Melissa enjoys spending time with her husband and three children. She enjoys watching her children play soccer, gardening and cooking. Melissa grew up in Rochester, spending many of her childhood weekends at her grandparents’ farm in rural Harmony.
